The Northampton County Cultural Arts Committee was created as a direct result of annual appropriations to counties through a Grassroots Grant by the North Carolina Arts to support activities of Cultural Arts Councils/Committees by a unanimous vote of the Northampton County Board of Commissioners at a regularly scheduled meeting on October 1, 2007.

The purpose of the Northampton County Cultural Arts Committee is to make the arts accessible to all citizens by preserving culture and fostering the growth and development of artists and the arts through education, outreach and shared experience.
